General Liability Insurance

General liability, also known as “commercial liability insurance” is a broad commercial insurance policy that covers general liability exposures of a business. NHC Insurance Services recommends that all businesses have general liability coverage in place. Bodily injury, property damage, personal injury, and advertising injury are all covered under this policy. Most if not all properly written contracts will require this basic insurance whether it be for work performed or as a tenant of a building and as the building owner.

Workers Compensation Insurance

Not only is Workers Compensation required by law for employers to carry for their employees, but it is protection for both employer and employee. Employees injured on the job are covered for lost income and/or medical expenses. Any employer that lacks this vital coverage faces the consequence of state fines, penalties, and unexpected financial obligations. A well-written Workers Comp policy helps employers make sure their employees are taken care of while protecting their own assets from these types of claims.

Commercial Property Insurance

One of the most common types of business insurance, commercial property insurance, provides a wide range of coverage for buildings, inventory, equipment, tools and more. Losses from fire, break-in, vandalism, windstorm and other natural or man-made disasters are examples of what is typically covered. Commercial Property Insurance covers your business property/contents or your building (if you are the building owner or have a triple net lease) from exposures such as theft and vandalism, fire, or natural disasters. This is likely a requirement on your lease agreement with your Lessor of Premises.

Commercial Auto Insurance

Commercial auto insurance – also known as business auto insurance or commercial vehicle insurance – is auto insurance for your vehicle(s) that are used in the course of business operations. This insurance is designed to protect a combination of vehicle types. The coverage includes drivers, trucks, cars, vans, specialty vehicles and some types of motorized equipment both on and off the roads. A Commercial Auto policy insures against property damage to vehicles and damage caused to others by those vehicles. A personal auto policy would not cover an auto used for business related activities.

Business Owners Insurance

A Business Owners Policy (BOP) combines property, liability and business interruption coverage for small to medium-sized businesses. This packaged coverage is generally less expensive than when purchasing coverage separately. With a BOP you have the ability to customize the policy to meet your individual business needs.

Commercial Umbrella Insurance

If umbrella policies are good for individuals, then they are imperative for business. When a catastrophic liability loss occurs, an umbrella insurance policy can mean the difference between a business surviving, or not. Commercial Umbrella Insurance coverage helps protect your business from the rising costs of lawsuits. This type of policy provides excess liability coverage over your existing policies such as general liability, auto liability, professional liability and employer’s liability limits (Workers’ Compensation).
